The removal of children from their parents’ care is an emotive topic, guaranteed to run emotions high. Our children are our most treasured assets and it stands to reason that parents would make major sacrifices, not only to nurture them, but to protect them as well.
The State will intervene in the parent-child relationship where a child is alleged to be “beyond parental control” or where it is alleged that the care being given to the child is below a certain standard, and that care is causing, or likely to cause, the child to suffer significant harm.
We cover the full range of care cases, including emergency protection orders, supervision orders, and education supervision orders and secure accommodation orders, as well as interim and full care orders. We hold particular expertise in allegations which relate to domestic violence.
The care proceedings department also deals with adoptions, special guardianship orders and child assessment orders. Parents’ care of their children may fall below the required standard temporarily because of illness or some other significant event, such as divorce or unexpected domestic violence. In those circumstances we will negotiate a sensible compromise with the Local Authority in order to avoid long-term separation. Please contact Kiana Turner for an appointment with a care lawyer.
All care proceedings are covered by public funding.
