We cover the full range of criminal offences from road traffic matters (“motoring”) all the way to life imprisonment offences, such as Murder. We are also a member of the Legal Services Commission’s “Very High Cost Cases” panel, which authorises us to provide legal representation in serious and complex cases such as prosecutions by the Serious Fraud Office or as a result of investigation by police forces’ Major Incidents Squads.
We are regularly instructed in cases which make national headlines, but whether your case is large or small, legally-aided or privately-paying, you are guaranteed to receive a quality service from our dedicated and focused team of professionals.
Police Station
We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and every day of the year to represent any person arrested and detained in police custody. Furthermore, our costs for this service are paid by the Legal Aid Agency.
Our team of Solicitors and fully accredited police station representatives recognise that being detained at the police station can be a stressful experience affecting not only the detained person, but also friends and family who are often left in the dark about what is going on.
We have a wealth of experience dealing with police station cases and attend police stations in and around the region on almost a daily basis. We provide free independent advice and ensure that all our clients are treated fairly and that their best interests are properly safeguarded.
Whether you have made arrangements to be interviewed at the police station, suspect that an arrest is likely to occur or if someone you know has been arrested and is being detained at the police station – we can help.
Call our emergency out of hours number on 0845 241 3868 or 01908 546580 if you are calling during office hours.
Remember, we’re on your side!
Magistrates’ Court
All criminal cases start at the Magistrates Court and we acknowledge that being subject to the criminal justice system, whatever the allegation, can be a life-changing experience. Our clients benefit from expert legal advice from experienced solicitors who appear daily in Magistrates’ Courts. Our expertise in terms of both the law and advocacy ensures that our clients are afforded the very best legal representation.
If you are in receipt of benefits or on a low income, you may be eligible for legal aid for Magistrates’ Court proceedings. But whether your case is publicly funded or privately-paying, you can be certain that our team will provide you with robust and realistic advice with a view to ensuring that your case is done justice.
If you are due to appear before the Magistrates’ Court contact Crystal Plummer or Jaclin Bastian.
Youth Court
It can be a very daunting experience to attend Court as an adult, let alone as a young person. For this reason we ensure that the approach we adopt for all of our young clients is tailored to their specific needs and that the legal advice we provide can be easily understood.
In addition, we appreciate that special care and expertise is required in cases where young people face prosecution regardless of whether the allegation being made is minor or more serious. All of our criminal litigation solicitors are equipped with the skills required to represent and guide our young clients through the Court process, which allows them to feel rest assured that they are being properly defended and looked after.
The Youth Court insists, unless it is unreasonable to do so, that the parent, guardian, carer or responsible adult of the young person is present during Court proceedings. To that end, and with the consent of our client, our Solicitors are pro-active in working closely with such persons with the aim of making sure that the welfare of our young clients is properly taken into consideration by the Youth Court.
If you, or a young person you know, are facing prosecution in the Youth Court, contact Jaclin Bastian or Silpa Mistry.
Crown Court
Regionally, we were one of the first Firms to identify the importance of having Solicitors who are able to represent clients at all levels and at every stage of the court proceedings – from the Police Station investigation stage through to the Crown Court and, if necessary, even at the Court of Appeal.
Our Solicitor Advocates are often involved at the very inception of criminal proceedings and therefore our clients benefit from their cases being meticulously prepared. This is particularly advantageous as our Solicitor Advocates recognise that appearing before the Crown Court can be extremely nerve-wracking.
But however serious your case, all of our clients are instilled with confidence knowing that our expert advocates are not backwards in coming forward and are ready to employ their expert skills to defend clients’ cases both passionately and fearlessly.
If you require representation for Crown Court proceedings contact Silpa Mistry or Jaclin Bastian.
